This works for the vast bulk of iPhone and iPad applications, including notable holdouts such as Netflix, Hulu, Nighttime Sky, and Instagram. Certain applications, yet, such as WhatsApp and the Apple Shop app, have additional requirements that prevent them from opening on the Mac at all.
